ISO PUBLISHES GUIDELINE FOR CERTIFICATION OF FIRE SAFETY ENGINEERING PROCESS
ISO has just published a technical report that provides guidance on the development of schemes that can be used for certification of processes, such as fire safety engineering, ISO/IEC TR 17032, Guidelines and examples of a scheme for the certification of processes. A specific annex (A.8) has been included in ISO/IEC TR 17032 defining the use of the technical report for developing certification schemes for fire safety designs based on fire safety engineering.
Although fire safety devices such as sprinklers and fire barriers are required to be certified in building fire codes, presently there is no certification method for the fire safety engineering design process which results in the specification of the necessary fire safety devices. See Benefits and use of ISO/IEC TR 17032 by Monideep Dey now available for developing a certification scheme.
Workshop or Lecture Available
Dr. Monideep Dey was the US (ANSI) expert to the ISO CASCO working group which developed ISO/IEC TR 17032. He is available to provide a workshop or lecture on the benefits and use of ISO/IEC TR 17032 for developing certification schemes for fire safety designs based on fire safety engineering. Specific applications can also be discussed. Please send a message to Dr. Monideep Dey if you need further information, or are interested in a lecture or workshop.
