Additional Information

Luncheon site is near the village of Wardensville, West Virginia and is a 2-hour drive from NIST in Gaithersburg, Maryland.  Winchester in the Shenandoah Valley in Virginia, where Deytec, Inc. USA has its offices and my residence is located, is a 1/2-hour drive from the luncheon site.  Winchester is in between Washington DC and the luncheon site, and is a 50-minute drive from the Washington Dulles International airport (near Chantilly, Virginia), the same distance as from Gaithersburg.  You may wish to move to Winchester on Friday October 23 afternoon and stay there.

Recommended hotels in Winchester are The George Washington A Wyndham Grand Hotel in downtown Winchester (higher end), or the Courtyard Marriott (medium price) which is very near the downtown area. There are several other hotels in Winchester in the medium price range.

The Tourist Information Center in Winchester can provide useful information about sights in the city and the surrounding areas in the Shenandoah valley.

Driving Distances to Sights Outside Winchester

White House, Smithsonian museums, and Washington monuments - 1 hour 15 minutes
Shenandoah National Park in the Blue Ridge mountains - 40 minutes (avoid on weekends due to heavy traffic from Washington DC to see fall colors)
Harper's Ferry National Historical Park- 50 minutes
