Philanthropy
Through his life, Monideep Dey has been guided by the principles of Mahatma Gandhi of India who through his work “pursued truth in life.” Following this path brought him to a close association with the Gandhi Memorial Center in Washington, D.C. in 1985. Since then, he has provided voluntary services at the Center assisting with publications and exhibits on the life and message of Gandhi.
He has also conducted philanthropic activities at Gandhi’s ashram in Sevagram, India for over 35 years through a charitable foundation he established in memory of his late mother in 1987. The foundation provides scholarships for poor and needy medical students at the Mahatma Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences in the ashram. He frequently visits the ashram and meets with the students that receive the scholarships. See slideshow below.
